Interior Design Associate

Plano, TX | Part-Time to Full-Time | Hybrid

 

DFW Dorms & Beyond is looking for a creative, organized, and client-focused Interior Design Associate to join our growing design team.

This role is ideal for someone with 1–2 years of interior design experience who is ready to take a more active role in client projects — from developing concepts and sourcing products to creating design boards, space plans, and assisting with installations.

The Interior Design Associate will work closely with the owner and design team throughout the design process while helping manage multiple projects from concept through completion.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with design concepts, color palettes, and cohesive room designs

  • Create design boards, client presentations, space plans, and product selections

  • Source furniture, bedding, décor, fabrics, artwork, storage, and accessories

  • Prepare product links, specifications, pricing, and purchasing information

  • Participate in client consultations and project meetings

  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and trade partners

  • Track product selections, orders, deliveries, and project details

  • Help maintain the showroom, design library, fabric samples, and product displays

  • Assist with project preparation, styling, installations, and move-ins

  • Support additional design and showroom needs as the company continues to grow

 

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate:

  • Has 1–2 years of interior design or closely related experience

  • Has a strong eye for color, scale, proportion, pattern, and overall design coordination

  • Has experience creating design boards, presentations, or space plans

  • Is highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Communicates professionally with clients and vendors

  • Can manage multiple projects and deadlines at once

  • Is comfortable taking direction while also working independently

  • Enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced small-business environment

  • Has reliable transportation for local meetings and installations

 

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

  • Canva

  • AutoCAD

  • SketchUp

  • Revit

  • 3D rendering software

  • Adobe Photoshop or InDesign

  • Space planning

  • Residential or small-space design

  • Furniture and décor sourcing

  • Client presentations

  • Installation and styling

 

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a part-time to full-time hybrid position based in Plano, Texas. The role includes a combination of remote design  work and in-person collaboration at our office/showroom, client meetings, project preparation, and installations throughout the DFW area.
